Arenanet Building Test by samdrewpictures Arenanet Building Test by samdrewpictures
Last year Arenanet was accepting internship applications and provided artists with concept art to work from ([link]).

Obviously I'm not applying for the internship now because I'm about a year late, lol, but I thought I might as well make it for fun anyway.

Now, the guidelines specified a limit of 3000 tris and the equivalent of two 1024x1024 textures (I'm using 1 1024, 2 512s, a 512x256 and 2 256s)

About 2-3 days work all up.

Edit: updated with better model sheet

Great work! :)) I'm wondering if you painted the textures or made it from photos? :)

Both. Typically I painted any light/shadow1/colour I needed and then overlayed a photo on top. How strong the actual photo was depended on what material I was doing; for example, the roof texture relies on the photo a lot, but the stone wall barely does at all.

With a combination of emissive maps, god rays and Marmoset's Complex Refraction shader :)
