Fleshy Shield by samdrewpictures Fleshy Shield by samdrewpictures
I wasn't planning on making this into a low poly model but then I did anyway. Finished in a couple of nights, I couldn't work on it until tonight since Sunday though. This is the first hand painted texture I've done in ages, by the way.

Looks very nice :) Zbrush I think? Do you make a base mesh first or do you start directly in zbrush?

Made a very quick base mesh in maya but 95% of the work was in zbrush.

Nice work! You did a great job creating the different materials, I especially like the fleshy bits.

The anatomy on the skull could use a lot of work, however. It's close, but it makes me think you weren't looking at ref when you sculpted this (I don't know) and it really brings down an otherwise high-quality piece. Also, using the skull as scale-reference, I don't think anyone's arm would fit through the holes cut in the back.

Good job overall though!

The skull, along with the entire model, is meant to be stylized and not canon with real life.

That just sounds like a cop-out honestly. It doesn't look stylized, just wrong. Even stylized art must take cues from reality.
